 Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering is headed by Prof. B Shivakumara, M.E. (Highway).

Department has well qualified, technically sound, experienced and caring faculty to cater to the needs of the present day Technical Education.

The Department was Established in the year 1980 with an intake of 50.
 
The department has laboratories that are well equipped meeting the requirements of AICTE norms. The students are trained to be competent enough in theoretical and practical aspects. The advanced subjects like AUTO-CAD, Ground Water Engineering, Solid Waste Management, Air Pollution etc., are taught. The department has well equipped laboratories.
 

The department has a unique model room, housing about 100 different forms of civil engineering structures.

  The distinguishing feature of the department is that, it takes up consultancy work in soil testing, material testing, water sample testing and pipe testing etc for the PWD , ZP and other non governmental organizations.

Association Activities
  1. To bring people of civil community together & Enhancement of skills, Competitions & knowledge base of working professionals. There by build up confidence in them
  2. Transfer technology to common man
  3. Bridge up the gap between Industry & Institution, by attaining mutual benefits for the college and Industries through an attitude of Cooperation , partnership & sharing experiences
    Conduct seminars & work shops to enlighten ourselves and concerned with recent upgradation in technology &field practices
  4. Train up the students with managerial and public speaking skills and practices
  5. Widen Horizon of Job placement
    • The department has conducted several seminars & work shops and is marching forward in this regard
    • This Association has conducted several community upgradation programes
    • The association had sent Fourteen final year students to Builders association of India for job oriented training and all are placed in reputed firms
    • The association had sent Eight pre final year students to Essar UEM for field training
    • The Association celebrates world Environment day and plants trees in & around the city to develop greenery

Industrial Visit:

  • 4 th& 6 th Semester civil Engineering students were taken to visit & study the constructional operations of upper tunga project, on march 30 th 2006
  • The students of 4 th & 6 th Semester were taken to study the waste water treatment plant at Harihar polyfibers on May10 th 2006.

The Association had held a cultural evening on may29 th 2006 where all the associates gathered and unwilled the Association CD also farewell was provided to all civil out going students of 2006 batch.

The Association conducted a 10 days training progremme for all village representations of sujala watershed project from 03.07.2006 to 19.07.2006 and about 100 participants were trained to conduct quality tests on water and soil retaining structures

The Association conducted Engineers day with great pomp & show and a video shown water management techniques & few case studies on same was conducted
